The Fund established by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan made its inaugural grants to support projects planned for 2025
MONTGOMERY, NY (January 22, 2025) – The Orange and Sullivan Equity Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, is proud to announce its inaugural grants to six regional organizations. The applicants were chosen in December of 2024 to fund projects planned for 2025.
The grant recipients are:
- Newburgh Urban Farm and Food Initiative (NUFFI): Fresh Nutritious Food Distribution Program
- Leadership Orange: Building Belonging and Equity Through Leadership
- EC Media Group Foundation: Media Production Internships
- Tusten Social: Tusten Social Teen Youth Club
- Hurleyville Performing Arts Centre: REEL PERSPECTIVES: Diverse Voices, Shared Stories
- The Black Library: Annual Fashion Show 2025
The awards were distributed evenly between Orange and Sullivan counties – each program received $1,000.00 for their ongoing efforts.
“CFOS is pleased to support organizations who work to strengthen and celebrate community equity and diversity,” said Andréa Bedrosian, CFOS Development Coordinator. “These crucial programs, many of which are grassroots efforts, create an invaluable ripple effect in the Hudson Valley and beyond. We look forward to growing and partnering with these initiatives annually.”
This grant process, overseen by the Foundation’s Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) Committee, will once again accept applications in Fall of 2025 for program support, training and education, and other initiatives that promote equity and inclusion in Orange and Sullivan counties.

About the Orange and Sullivan Equity Fund This fund was established in 2024 by the Community Foundation as a vehicle to collect donations and distribute grants that are working to promote equity locally. The fund is managed by the DEAI Committee: a group that implements strategies related to diversity, equity and inclusion in all areas of the Community Foundation’s work including staff and volunteer training and education, grantmaking and scholarship distribution practices. It is intended that the Orange and Sullivan Equity Fund will continue to grow and adapt to the changing needs of our community based on feedback, experience and time.
