Bridges to Board Service Presentation Planned

March 10 presentation in Montgomery will focus on nonprofit board governance

MONTGOMERY, NY (March 4, 2020) – Hudson Valley residents interested in becoming the best nonprofit board members they can be are invited to attend a Bridges to Board Service presentation. The program aims to strengthen local nonprofits and provide community members with meaningful board service education opportunities.

The next Bridges to Board Service session will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10 at the Community Foundtion of Orange & Sullivan (CFOS) located at 30 Scott’s Corners Drive in Montgomery. It will focus on nonprofit board governance and is presented by the New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON).

“Attendees will learn about the fiduciary duty of board service and explore what effective board governance entails,” said CFOS President and CEO Elizabeth Rowley. “This innovative educational program welcomes those inexperienced in board service as well as experienced board members looking to enhance their knowledge.”

This session is part of a yearlong series offering innovative, quality educational programs focused on the fundamentals of board service including in-depth sessions on governance, finance, fundraising, succession planning and other topics. This program is designed for anyone interested in board service including corporate community members and local community members who have not yet served on a board, especially young professionals and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experienced board members who seek to enhance their knowledge and nonprofit leadership working to build and maintain strong, effective boards to lead their organizations are also welcome.

Bridges to Board Service is presented in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley; the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce – Nonprofit Committee; the Dyson Foundation; Governance Matters, a subsidiary of the New York Council of Nonprofits; and the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.
