The mission of the Catskills Community Land Trust is to hold and develop land as a community asset where we can build and preserve affordable homes.

As rural Catskills communities continue to expand from an influx of new businesses and residents, we aim to ensure that people of all income levels can continue to live and work in the region, and access the opportunities that come with economic growth rather than be forced out due to high cost of living.

Our vision is to build upon the historic and natural beauty of our area by constructing and upgrading homes so that they are green, healthy, and beautiful places to live.

Our first project is the design and construction of a two-family building in the Town of Rockland, NY. The building will be solid, sustainable, and will be built to house local families affordably for a century or more. As we plan and build, our priorities are:

• LOCAL SKILLS & LABOR : Work with and train local construction talent and workforce programs
• LOCAL RESOURCES: Purchase locally-harvested timber
• LOCAL ECONOMY : Work with small businesses and distributors (no box stores)
• CLIMATE : Reducing carbon while also managing our new climate reality
