Empire State Bank Awards Grants to Nonprofit Agencies and Programs

Empire State Bank_pagenumber 001Empire State Bank, with offices in Newburgh, New Paltz, and Staten Island, recently awarded $8,500 in quarterly grants to support nonprofit agencies and programs.

Empire State Bank established the Empire State Bank, NA Charitable Trust Fund so that it could actively give back to the communities it serves. According to Anthony P. Costa, Chairman & CO-CEO, “As a community bank we need to provide outstanding service but also to help insure, through giving, that this is a great place to live and work.  Funding charitable and cultural endeavors in our communities is part of our commitment to the people and businesses we serve.” Grants awarded in August 2013 are as follows:

$500 to Alzheimer’s Foundation-Staten Island to support victims of Alzheimer’s disease, their family members and caregivers who reside in Staten Island.

$1,000 to Carve for a Cause to benefit the Personal Safety Program offered through the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse located in Poughkeepsie to help prevent child/sexual abuse and reduce the number of victims to zero.

$500 to Hoops Express, Inc. in Newburgh to support their efforts to promote positive youth development through educational, athletic, cultural and health programs, in collaboration with St. Luke’s/Cornwall Hospital.

$500 to Independent Living, Inc. in Newburgh to help support their efforts in providing quality of life to people with disabilities.

$1,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley to help support their efforts in providing a wish for a child with a life threatening medical condition between the ages of 3 and 18.

$1,000 to The Newburgh Armory Unity Center, Inc. to help support their expansion of Pre-K and elementary school reading programs to include science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) modules.

$1,000 to St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation to support Hollie’s Funds for the benefit of Littman Cancer Center.

$500 to Staten Island Children’s Museum to support the Cool School

Holiday program that allows the museum to open its door for free on up to ten school holidays, and provides an opportunity for low-to-moderate income families to enjoy a full day of fun together.

$1,000 to Staten Island Institute of Arts & Sciences (DBA Staten Island Museum) to help in supporting the Staten Island Museum.

$1,000 to SUNY New Paltz Foundation to support the 2013 Hall of Fame Ceremony.

$500 to Wallkill Valley Land Trust to support their efforts in protecting land in southern Ulster County.
