PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

The Meyer and Lillian Jacobowitz Memorial Fund has been established  as a component charitable fund of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.  This Fund established by Gerald N. Jacobowitz, his wife Marlene and sister Joyce Concors, provides scholarships to Valley Central and Wallkill High School  seniors and provides grants to local nonprofit organizations.

The Meyer and Lillian Jacobowitz Memorial Fund provides two scholarships to Valley Central High School, the Dr. Morton I. Blackman Scholarship and the Meyer and Lillian Jacobowitz Business Scholarship.  Dr. Morton I. Blackman was a licensed optometrist who resided and practiced in Walden for many years.  He was active in many organizations and community activities during his distinguished career.  He was always ready to help anyone who needed assistance with their eye sight and did it in a pleasant, understanding and considerate way.

The fund also provides two scholarships to Wallkill High School, the Edward Edsall Scholarship and the Lillian and Meyer Jacobowitz Scholarship.  Edward Edsall was a licensed pharmacist in the Hamlet of Wallkill for many years and later head pharmacist and manager of the Thruway Pharmacy in Walden.  He was active in many community activities and organizations during his distinguished career.  He was a fine gentleman, soft  spoken and well respected.

The Community Foundation manages charitable funds and handles all of the fiscal reporting and administration for each charitable fund under its umbrella, thereby keeping administration costs much lower than a private foundation, and allowing more dollars to flow toward the charitable purpose for which the Fund is intended.

Contributions to the Meyer and Lillian Jacobowitz Memorial Fund are welcome.   Donations can be made to CFOS- Meyer and Lillian Jacobowitz Memorial Fund and sent to the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 202, Montgomery, NY 12549 or made securely through the Foundation’s website at www.cfoc-ny.org.
