$500 Scholarship Awarded to Ramapo High School Student

Ramapo High School 2012 graduate Linda Dantico has been awarded a scholarship from the FF Denis P. Germain Memorial Scholarship Fund, a charitable fund administered through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.

The FF Denis P. Germain Memorial Scholarship Fund was created by the family of FF Denis P. Germain to honor the 33 year-old New York City Firefighter with Ladder 2 who perished on September 11, 2001. Although he spent his working hours in the canyons of midtown Manhattan as a firefighter, he spent his free time in winter on the ski slopes training high school racing teams and actively participated in an annual downhill race at Hunter Mountain for teams of firefighters. This fund offers annual scholarships to a graduating students of Suffern Senior High School who are members of the Suffern Senior High School Ski Team.

Ms. Dantico will be pursuing a degree in Expeditionary Studies/ Biology while attending SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall. She hopes to one day work in backcountry rescue.
