$1,000 Scholarship Awarded to a Tri-Valley graduating senior in honor and memory of Matthew R. Bertholf

Alberto Hernandez PhotoAlberto Hernandez, a graduating student of Tri-Valley Central School District was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Matthew R. Bertholf Scholarship Fund, a charitable fund administered through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.  Alberto will be starting his freshman year this fall in the Carpentry and Trades Program at SUNY Delhi and hopes to one day become a Carpenter.

This Fund was established to honor and remember a remarkable young man, Matthew ‘Matty’ Bertholf, who was the epitome of what it meant to live in and embrace Sullivan County. A resident of Grahamsville, Matty was avid in the trades and applied technology, skilled with his hands, a dexterous builder, woodworker and mason. Through this scholarship, Matty’s legacy will be carried on through a student who plans to pursue the trades and mirrors the characteristics of Matthew Bertholf.
