Sporting clays charity shooting event draws 160 people over two-day event.
MONTGOMERY, NY (October 25, 2021) – DaHunt for the Cure has announced that this year’s sporting clays charity shooting event was the most successful in the history of the fundraiser. $200,000 was raised for Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations.
DaHunt founders Charlie and Diane Medici hosted the event on September 16 and 17 at Ten Mile River Preserve in Dover Plains. 160 people were in attendance. Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan and Cancer Resource Center of the Hudson Valley were named as the event’s top beneficiaries.
“Diane and I are so proud to host this event which supports the missions of nonprofits near and dear to our hearts,” said DaHunt for the Cure Founder Charlie Medici. “The unwavering dedication and commitment of event attendees and sponsors is so appreciated. We look forward to next year and doing it all again!”
Since its establishment, DaHunt for the Cure has distributed $192,000 in grants. This year, Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, Gigi’s Playhouse, Kids for Kids Foundation, and Sunshine Kids Foundation also received donations from the fund.
DaHunt for the Cure became a component fund of the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan (CFOS) in 2017. CFOS was among the nonprofits that received support from the successful charity event.
“We were honored that the Medicis chose to support the operating fund of the Community Foundation this year,” said Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan President and CEO Elizabeth Rowley. “The support of this event helps us continue our critical work of managing 363 charitable funds that disburse grants to support areas of education, health, human services, veterans, the environment, and more.”
“The Cancer Resource Center of the Hudson Valley is thrilled to be a selected charity of DaHunt for the Cure,” said Hudson Valley Cancer Resource Center President and CEO Casey MacDonald. “Charlie and Diane Medici are an exceptional couple whose commitment to cancer care is inspiring on so many levels. We are incredibly grateful to partner with them to make the cancer journey easier for cancer patients and their families in the Hudson Valley.”
DaHunt for the Cure was inspired when the Medici’s nephew, Peter, was diagnosed with leukemia. Peter is now an extremely healthy college graduate in his 20s and is working for the family business as a project manager. The Medici’s continue to honor his battle and raise money to support all those who are still fighting today.
