It is with deep sadness that the Community Foundation’s board of directors, emeriti board of directors, volunteers, and staff mourn the sudden passing of one of Orange County’s finest,

David T. Cocks, President of Walden Savings Bank, and Vice President of Finance on the Foundation’s board of directors.

David served the Community Foundation tirelessly since 2002, and will be sorely missed.  He was a man of great character, a devoted husband, father, and son, and truly made a difference in the many lives he touched whether as President of Walden Savings Bank, or in his many volunteer roles.  He exemplified the definition of character and left a legacy of service and good work.  We are blessed to have known him.

In 2007, David Cocks and the board of directors at Walden Savings Bank established the Walden Savings Bank – John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund as a lasting tribute to the former President of Walden Savings Bank. This is just one of the many charitable works initiated by Mr. Cocks during his tenure as President of Walden Savings Bank.  The scholarship fund provides a scholarship in eight school districts in Orange and Ulster County.
