Camp Oakhurst was awarded a grant from the Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund, a charitable fund administered by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan. The purpose of this grant is to sponsor tuition for a disabled camper in memory of Joshua Stamm, a former camper.

The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 2008 by family and friends to memorialize Joshua, who was an Eagle Scout with Troop 63 in Goshen, a member of the 105th Air National Guard’s Young Champions, an avid skier, music fan, and baseball player. Joshua participated in countless wheelchair road races, including several Orange Classics and the Special Olympics at West point. In short, he was an amazing young man.

The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund has also awarded $6,000 in scholarships at Goshen High School since 2008 when the fund was established. The most recent recipient was Ashley Depoo who recently started her freshman year at SUNY Orange.

The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund is facilitated through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) public charity that was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowments within their community.  To create your own charitable endowment, to add to this fund, or to an existing named endowment, contact the Community Foundation, Karen VanHouten Minogue, at (845) 769-9393 or e-mail karen@cfoc-ny.org.
