Ashley and Sierra Memorial Scholarship to award $10,000 in Scholarships at Monticello High School

The Ashley and Sierra Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating seniors at Monticello High School who exhibit well-rounded scholarship and vocational aptitude geared to the service of others and the ever-changing needs of society.

The families of Ashley Lynn Morgan and Sierra Lynn Cerrone created the original fund in 2005 to honor and celebrate the lives of two best friends who lost their life together in a car crash in 2004.  At the time of their passing, Ashley and Sierra were both freshman at Monticello High School and were on the Varsity Golf Team as well as members of the Debate Team.

2014 will mark the 10-year anniversary of the establishment of The Ashley and Sierra Memorial Scholarship Fund. To commemorate the anniversary, the fund will award a total of $10,000 in scholarships to two graduating seniors of Monticello High School.  The fund has provided $22,000 in scholarships to Monticello High School seniors over the last 9 years. The most recent recipients were Annette Purcell who is a Freshman at Binghamton University and Brittany Rupp who is a Freshman at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The Ashley and Sierra Memorial Scholarship Fund is facilitated through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) public charity that was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowment funds to benefit their community.  To create your own charitable endowment, to make a contribution to this scholarship fund, or to add to an existing named endowment fund, please contact the Community Foundation, Karen VanHouten Minogue, at (845) 769-9393, e-mail to karen@cfoc-ny.org, or visit www.cfoc-ny.org.
