Community Foundation awards $8,000 in scholarships in Fallsburg

Nine graduating students of Fallsburg High School were awarded scholarships on June 23rd from the Samuel Beytin Fallsburg Central Community Scholarship Fund, and the Elissa Lippen / Matthew Helm Memorial Scholarship Fund, charitable funds administered through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan

  • Samantha Rolon $500.00

The Elissa Lippen / Matthew Helm Memorial Scholarship was created in 1995 in the Fallsburg School District as a legacy to honor and celebrate the lives of two close friends who lost their life together in a fire in 1995.  Elissa Lippen and Matthew Helm were childhood sweethearts who graduated from Fallsburg Central High School in June 1991.

The 2013 Samuel Beytin Fallsburg Central Community Scholarship recipients are:

  • Candy Gold                     $500.00
  • Blossom Cohen               $500.00

The Samuel Beytin Fallsburg Central Community Scholarship Fund was created to provide scholarships to graduating students at Fallsburg Central School District who have been accepted and ultimately matriculate as full-time students at any accredited college or university located in the United States. Scholarships were awarded based on character, potential for success, academic achievement, participation in school activities and community service.
