Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan Ranks Among Fastest Growing in the Nation

The nonprofit established in 1999 ranked first in growth among Community Foundations in New York State

MONTGOMERY, NY (November 16, 2020) – The annual Census Report compiled by the Indiana based Community Foundation Research & Training Institute was recently released, highlighting the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) as the fifteenth fastest growing community foundation in the United States. In the report, 830 community foundations nationwide were compared by their respective assets and growth as reported on their IRS Form 990 tax returns. With 136% growth from 2014 to 2018, CFOS had the most growth of all community foundations in New York State. Its growth from 2017 to 2018 was 18.6%.

CFOS is ranked 354 out of 830 US community foundations by asset size, up from 388 the year prior. Total assets managed by community foundations in the United States is now $105.5 billion. With 335 active component funds, the Community Foundation manages more than $36 million in assets, designated for a multitude of local charitable initiatives and projects in the region and beyond. It has distributed more than $18.6 million in grants and scholarships to date.
