Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan’s Make a Difference Fund Announces Grant Recipients for 2015

Girl Scouts and Safe Homes_smallThe Make a Difference Fund was established by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan to provide grants to local organizations that provide services and programs to children of low-income, disadvantaged or distressed families. In 2015, grants were awarded to programs focused in the area of the arts. Each summer, the Distribution Committee reviews a high volume of applications to determine which organizations will receive grants in Orange and Sullivan counties.

The board of directors is proud to announce 2015 grant recipients from the Make a Difference Fund:

Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh, Inc. – a grant of $1,500 for the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy Music Program which provides underserved area youth with access to high-quality music instruction.

Safe Homes of Orange County, Inc. – a grant of $1,000 for the “Safe Love Is…” Art Contest and Show which encourages artists of all kinds from grades 6-12 to share their personal vision and voice in ending teen dating violence.

Nana’s House Child Care Center – a grant of $1,500 for the Nana’s House Dance Company which introduces fun music based physical activity to children to improve their general wellness.

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. – a grant for $1,000 for the Exploring Arts Mediums Program which is an educational art enrichment program that will be delivered to 100 underserved youth during the Town of Fallsburg Youth Summer Recreation Program.

Contributions to The Make A Difference Fund may be made to CFOS-Make A Difference Fund and sent to the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 203, Montgomery, NY 12549.
