Community Foundation reports milestone at Annual Reception

Over 200 people attended to hear about the work of the Community Foundation November 17th at its Annual Reception held at The Fountains at Wallkill Golf Club in Middletown.  The Foundation celebrated  the milestone of exceeding $6 million in charitable funds and the establishment of over 100 funds that will make grants to improve the quality of life in the region.  The Foundation’s 2009-2010 Annual Report “10 years and growing” was also unveiled at the Reception.

Covering for County Executive Ed Diana, Jim O’Donnell, Orange County Administrative Officer, delivered glowing remarks from the County Executive on the work of the Community Foundation.  Jonathan Rouis, Chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature also praised the Community Foundation for expanding its work into Sullivan County.  Gerald N. Jacobowitz, Esq. (President of the Community Foundation), William Bratton (representative of the Michelle Renee Bratton Memorial Scholarship Fund), Patrick Carfizzi (representative of ArtsLEAF) and Sadler and Sheila Hayes (representatives of The Keith B. Hayes Foundation) spoke about the Community Foundation’s charitable services.  Karen VanHouten Minogue, Executive Director, spoke about the new charitable  endowment funds created this past year and how they will benefit our community forever.
