Community Foundation Ribbon Cutting Event and Milestone Celebration

ribbon cuttingMontgomery, NY – The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan held a Ribbon Cutting event on Thursday, August 14, 2014 to commemorate its recent office move. The Community Foundation is still located in the Orange County Chamber of Commerce Business Center at 30 Scott’s Corners Drive in Montgomery, NY, but is now located in a larger office space, Suite 203.

The Community Foundation is currently celebrating its 15th year of charitable leadership and philanthropy in connecting people who care with causes that matter. The generosity of those who have given through and to the Community Foundation since its inception has resulted in over $12.2 million of charitable community assets with a total investment return of 16.48% for fiscal year 2013-2014. The Community Foundation administers these assets across more than 180 charitable funds that benefit Orange, Sullivan and beyond. 25 new funds have been established this past fiscal year and dozens of new funds and charitable bequests are currently in the pipeline. Moving to a larger suite was necessary to accommodate the growing demand for the Community Foundation’s services in the region. It was also necessary to hire additional professional development staff to respond to the increasing demand for the Foundation’s services, and Elizabeth Rowley joined the Community Foundation team as Director of Development in December of 2013.

Begun in 1999, the Foundation is an effective steward of the community’s charitable resources and a leader in the administration of scholarships, and grant making for the benefit of nonprofit organizations in Orange and Sullivan Counties, and beyond. The Foundation has significantly increased local charitable funds and empowered donors to make a profound difference in the quality of life in our region. To date, the Community Foundation has distributed over $7 million in grants and scholarships in our communities through funds set up by individuals, businesses and organizations. Anyone with a charitable goal or dream is encouraged to call the Community Foundation office to discuss establishment of a fund today.
