Danny Prial Scholarship & Charity Fund Established at Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan

A memorial golf outing to support the fund will be held on September 13 at West Point Golf Course.

MONTGOMERY, NY (April 29, 2021) – The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) is honored to welcome the Danny Prial Scholarship & Charity Fund to its family of funds. The Danny Prial Scholarship & Charity Fund was established in memory of Danny Prial, a longtime member of the Warwick community who was tragically killed while serving his country.

Danny grew up in Warwick and attended St. Stephen’s School and Warwick Valley High School. Following graduation, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. Danny then entered the 82nd Airborne Division as a helicopter pilot and was deployed to Afghanistan. He lived his dream of flying, with a career as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot for the U.S. Army.

Tragically, Danny was among three soldiers who died in a helicopter training mission crash with the New York National Guard. Danny’s friends and family established the Danny Prial Scholarship and Charity Fund to support various charitable/educational projects.

“Danny loved being raised in Warwick and this town was incredibly special to him,” said Danny’s parents, Anne and Greg Prial. “The genuine joy Danny felt from making friendships and spending time with his close friends fed his commitment as a soldier.”

“We at the Community Foundation are honored that Danny’s family and friends have entrusted us to manage this memorial fund that will forever support local causes while honoring a young man who selflessly served his country and was beloved in his community,” said Nicole Feller Lee, CFOS Director of Development and Marketing.

A memorial golf outing is planned to benefit the fund for September 13 at West Point Golf Course. To donate or for more information, please visit cfosny.org.
