Irma Schwinger DeAngele Fund established to support worthy causes

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release

The Irma Schwinger DeAngele Fund has been established as a component charitable fund of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.

In the words of Fred Schwinger, son of the late Irma Schwinger DeAngele, who created this legacy in honor of his mother, “the Irma Schwinger DeAngele Fund has been established to forever celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, a German immigrant who settled in the Hudson Valley in 1950.  Despite many personal trials, through hard work, determination, and selflessness she always put her family, friends, and others foremost in her mind and in her actions.  Her death on January 20, 2010 was not an ending but through this Fund, a continuance of her thoughtfulness for and generosity to others.”

Mr. Schwinger, resident of Cold Spring for 30 years and who has worked for Putnam Valley Elementary School for 27 years established this fund to provide grants to local nonprofit  organizations.

The Community Foundation manages charitable funds and handles all of the fiscal reporting and administration for each charitable fund under its umbrella, thereby keeping administration costs much lower than a private foundation, and allowing more dollars to flow toward the charitable purpose for which the Fund is intended.

Contributions to the Irma Schwinger DeAngele Fund are welcome.   Donations can be made to CFOS- Irma Schwinger DeAngele Fund and sent to the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 202, Montgomery, NY 12549 or made securely through the Foundation’s website at www.cfoc-ny.org.
