Jay and Carol Anthony Foundation for Autism Support Awards $2,000 Grant to Mental Health Association in Orange County

jcflogoMontgomery, NYThe Jay and Carol Anthony Foundation for Autism Support has awarded a $2,000 grant to the Mental Health Association in Orange County to provide Autism Guardianship Support Services.

The Anthony family established this fund so that families with children who have aged out of their local school district can continue to receive transition and planning services through adulthood.

“Most children with autism are eligible to receive special education services through their local school district until age 21. As children transition to adulthood, social programs and services diminish for children who “age out” of the school system.  The goal of our charitable fund is to support those in need of social, educational and recreational transitional programs that will help these individuals thrive,” said Jay Anthony.  Carol Anthony added, “Adults with autism can be active participants in all areas of community life including social and recreational activities.  It is our hope that this fund will offer young adults with autism the chance to develop lasting friendships and continue to grow intellectually.”

The Jay and Carol Anthony Foundation for Autism Support is a component charitable fund of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) public charity that was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowments within their community. Donations can be made to CFOS-The Jay and Carol Anthony Foundation for Autism Support and sent to the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 202, Montgomery, NY 12549.   Secure on-line donations may be made at www.cfoc-ny.org.
