The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan recently established the Jewish Family Service –Diane Finkelstein Fund for Families in Crisis. This agency endowment fund will support the Diane Finkelstein Families in Crisis Program, administered by Jewish Family Service. This financial empowerment program, made possible by the family of Diane Finkelstein and the generosity of many donors, assists families who are experiencing hardships to regain independence and control of their financial situation by helping make ends meet. Interested parties must apply and be interviewed for financial assistance, and eligible applicants include those affected by medical emergencies, loss of employment, natural disaster, fire and those in need of emergency food supply and help applying for public assistance.

Elise Gold, Executive Director of Jewish Family Service of Orange County shared, “on behalf of the Board of Directors and recipients of funding, we are all thrilled to embark on this new partnership. After presentations and discussions, the directors of the board all agreed, ‘it makes perfect sense!’ Collaborating with the Community Foundation brings us closer to realizing the agency’s mission of empowering all people facing challenging times to live with dignity, hope and strength. The endowment ensures that JFS can provide grants to more people in crisis. It is heartwarming to know that the fund will continue to provide aid beyond our personal years.”
