The John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund (Walden Savings Bank) has expanded its scholarship awards to the Florida Central School District in recognition of the opening of their new branch located at 95 North Main Street in Florida.
The John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund (Walden Savings Bank), which is administered by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, was created by Walden Savings Bank in memory of John D. Garrison, immediate past president of Walden Savings Bank. “John was a fine community leader and businessperson; his goodness, kindness, and caring touched so many, that it was only appropriate to create a lasting way to remember him,” said David Cocks, President of Walden Savings.
Each year a $500 scholarship is awarded to one (1) student at Cornwall Central High School, Marlboro Central High School, Newburgh Free Academy, Pine Bush Central High School, Valley Central High School, Wallkill Central High School, Washingtonville Central High School and now will be awarded to a student at S.S. Seward Institute in Florida, NY. Each scholarship recipient must be of good character, demonstrate community involvement and be service-oriented, and college bound to study business or finance.
The John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund (Walden Savings Bank) is facilitated through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) public charity that was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowment funds to benefit their community.
