Michael Purcell Memorial Scholarship available through Community Foundation

The Michael Purcell Memorial Scholarship for $500.00 ($250 per student) is available to  graduating seniors at Valley Central High School and Washingtonville High School.  The Michael Purcell Memorial Scholarship  Fund was created by colleagues of Washingtonville teacher Mike Purcell who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

The Michael Purcell Memorial Scholarship Fund will award scholarships to students who are ranked 9th in the graduating class at Washingtonville High School and Valley Central High School, who are in good academic standing, and plan to pursue higher education.

Students should contact their guidance directors for applications and more information.  These scholarship funds are facilitated through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) public charity that was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowment funds to benefit their community.  To create your own charitable endowment, to make a contribution to this scholarship fund, or to add to an existing named endowment fund, please contact the Community Foundation, Karen VanHouten Minogue, at (845) 769-9393, e-mail to karen@cfoc-ny.org, or visit www.cfoc-ny.org.
