Port Jervis, NY – The Winifred Dunwald Memorial Scholarship Fund was recently established within the Community Foundation to award scholarships to graduating seniors of the Port Jervis City School District, as well as children of graduates of Port Jervis City School District who have moved out of the Orange County area. The fund was established in memory of Winifred Dunwald, a well known teacher at Sparrowbush School through a bequest by her son Joseph Dunwald to create a lasting tribute to his mother. Estate Attorney and Fund Representative Victoria Campbell, Esq. says “Joe was a Vietnam Veteran and a devote Catholic who cherished his family and friends and started all of his conversations with “Everything is okay.’”
The Community Foundation manages charitable funds and handles all of the fiscal reporting and administration for each charitable fund under its umbrella, thereby keeping administration costs much lower than a private foundation, and allowing more dollars to flow toward grants and scholarships. “We are honored to administer this charitable fund in order to benefit students who have overcome an obstacle during their schooling career and are planning to pursue higher education,” said Karen VanHouten Minogue, President and CEO.
Contributions to The Winifred Dunwald Memorial Scholarship Fund may be made to CFOS-The Winifred Dunwald Memorial Scholarship Fund and sent to the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 202, Montgomery, NY 12549.
