The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan Welcomes the Montgomery Food Pantry Fund

MONTGOMERY, NY (August 6, 2020) – The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) is proud to welcome a new component fund to its family of funds. The Montgomery Food Pantry recently established an endowment fund with CFOS to invest toward future needs.

“We had a reserve account at the Montgomery Food Pantry that we had added to over the years, but we never had the time or expertise to maximize its growth,” said Peter Sullivan, Treasurer of Montgomery Food Pantry Inc. “We knew we should be better stewards of our donors’ funds, so we looked for a partner who could manage our account for us and help make it grow.”

CFOS has two decades of experience supporting nonprofits with expert administration and prudent financial stewardship. That solid reputation resonated with Sullivan and the Montgomery Food Pantry’s Board of Directors.

“Over the years, I have seen several Rotary clubs and scholarship groups establish funds at CFOS, and I knew the returns were good,” added Peter Sullivan. “After a short presentation to our Board, it was an easy, unanimous decision for us. We are very happy with CFOS.”

Montgomery Food Pantry was among the nonprofits that recently received a grant from CFOS through its Orange and Sullivan COVID-19 Fund.

“We learned through the grant process about all the amazing work Montgomery Food Pantry is doing for area residents in need,” said Nicole Feller Lee, CFOS Director of Development and Communications. “It’s an honor to support this worthy organization’s future needs with the establishment of this endowment fund.”

The Montgomery Food Pantry has been active since the 1980’s and is a resource that offers a three-to-four-day supply of groceries to residents of the Valley Central School District. It is a privately run pantry that has volunteers provided by five local churches and serves approximately 170 families per month, encompassing 510 persons. Food donations can be dropped off at the pantry located at 2200 NY-208 in Montgomery during operational hours or at the Montgomery Post Office.
