This fund supports the construction and establishment of the Naomi Richardson Park in Orange County, NY.
Located in the Center of Washingtonville, NY on West Main Street.
Named in honor of the former property owner and resident, African American educator and suffragist, Naomi Sewell Richardson.
Just over an acre, the park will be a “pollinator pathway” with garden beds of native plants designed to attract butterflies, humming birds and bees.
Students from Washingtonville High School’s Community Service Club are helping in the planning of the gardens.
Existing trees will remain while others will be added to be flood tolerant, helping create a buffer along the Moodna Creek.
A bandstand will sit near the street, at the center of the park, for the community to share in entertainment while lounging on a lush, green lawn.
From the permeable pathways, to the native plantings, the park is designed to be eco-friendly and sustainable. This park has been a dream for the community for many years. Your donation can help make that dream come true.
