The Danny Prial Scholarship & Charity Fund was established in memory of Danny Prial, a beloved member of the Warwick community who was tragically killed while serving his country. Danny grew up in Warwick and attended St. Stephen’s – St. Edward’s Elementary School and Warwick Valley High School. Following graduation, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduation from flight school, Danny was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 where he flew Blackhawk medivac helicopters with the 82nd Airborne Division. After completing active duty with the United States Army in 2020, he joined the New York National Guard to continue his dream of flying medivac helicopters. Tragically, he was among three New York National Guard pilots who died in a crash during a training exercise in January 2021. Danny loved being raised in Warwick and this town was incredibly special to him. The genuine joy Danny felt from making friendships, building community, and spending time with his family and close friends fed his commitment as a soldier and as a citizen. Danny’s friends and family established this fund to support various charitable/educational projects that promote Danny’s spirit of giving.
