This scholarship was established in memory of Lloyd F. Sweet, Sr. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior of the Middletown City School District who is pursuing a music education degree, who has demonstrated musical ability and interest, and has participated in MHS band, orchestra or chorus.

An annual award of $2,000 will be available.

Applicant to submit an essay stating why interested in pursuing a music education career, what was the major influence in making this decision – person or experience, what are their plans after receiving degree, what individual has had the most impact on their interest in the study of music.

Award to start in 2022 using the Middletown High School online application.  Thereafter, an application will be available online through the Community Foundation’s online scholarship application portal.
